Blockchain: The Key to Authenticating AI Amidst Crypto’s Legal Triumphs, According to Rep. Emmer

Blockchain Could Be Used to Authenticate Real and Artificially Generated Content, Says Congressman Tom Emmer

In a statement made at the Permissionless II conference, Congressman Tom Emmer proposed the use of blockchain technology to distinguish between real and artificially generated content. Emmer also highlighted the positive developments in US cryptocurrency policy.

During a panel discussion, Emmer expressed caution, acknowledging that recent court victories for Ripple and Grayscale are still subject to appeal. However, he emphasized that an upcoming ruling by the US Supreme Court could significantly impact the administrative state. Emmer seemed to be referring to the Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo case, which challenges the Chevron deference doctrine established in 1984.

To bring about change in Congress, Emmer stressed the need for the cryptocurrency industry to provide solutions alongside raising awareness. He stated, “You have more members of Congress who have educated themselves than ever before, but we’re not quite there yet.” Emmer suggested that artificial intelligence (AI) could be a tool to address the issue of distinguishing real and false information, with blockchain serving as the authenticator.

While acknowledging the ongoing focus on the FTX fraud case, Emmer highlighted the importance of refocusing on innovation and the success of the cryptocurrency industry. He stated, “We haven’t gotten back to the innovation and all the success that is in this space, what it means for individuals.”

Emmer’s involvement in cryptocurrency legislation includes his sponsorship of the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act and the SEC Stabilization Act. These bills reportedly aim to dismiss U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler.

Overall, Emmer’s remarks at the conference emphasize the potential of blockchain technology in verifying the authenticity of content and call for greater attention to the innovation and success of the cryptocurrency industry.
